Happy Birthday Kat!

Yesterday we celebrated Kat's birthday with good food, lots of drinks, and tons of laughter. We went to a Korean BBQ restaurant in Cerritos, CA called The Corner Place. Although we came out smelling like Korean BBQ, it was worth it, the food was so ono, yummy!
The card I made for Kat was based on the TGF Wed toot background masking by Anna Maria. Instead of using a TGF stamp tho, I used a Sweet November stamp, the beautiful Fidget Goblinspider, in honor of Sweet November's 1st Birthday/Anniversary. I hope I did the stamp justice. I colored her up with blacks, grays and greens. I used a couple other stamps for the sakuras and the background. I also sparkled up Fidget's green polka dots, and her wings. I didn't stamp the bottom of the card like in the picture above, but if I had a stamp I would have stamped that saying. :)
I think I'll enter this card in the ATS challenge, hey why not! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, either happily crafting or relaxing. Mahalo for stopping by.

What I picked up at the RSC-Carson CA

Happy Sunday! This is the first post of two, and it's going to be a pretty quick one as I have tons of crafting to get started on. Had a good time yesterday at the RSC in Carson. Purchased some awesome origami paper from my favorite place, Hanko Designs, and the two biggest purchases of the day was the Sizzix Grand Caliber and some awesome stamps and frames from Darcie's and of course I stopped at the Tim Holtz booth where he was giving a small tutorial, sorry no picture, I forgot! But I picked up some distress inks, distressing tool and some clear plastic fragment charms. All in all a really fun day with my bestie, her boo and our other bestie. I wanted to share the make & take I did for a donation of $1.
Isn't that image just the cutest? Thanks for stopping by, I'll post the card I made for my friend Kat next. Hope you're having a wonderful day! Mahalo for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Tuan!

Before I start my post I just wanted to share that Sweet November is celebrating their 1st birthday/anniversary with a special blog hop. You can start the hop at the ATS website which has a list of all the players. Make sure to go over and wish Sweet November a Happy Birthday! I did and it was soo much fun! Mahalo!
Happy Saturday blogland friends. Hope you had a good week and are now enjoying this well deserved weekend. I've got a busy day ahead. Going to head to the Carson Rubber stamp convention with my bestie Renate and her boo Zach. Then later we are meeting up with some friends in Cerritos for some Korean Bar-b-Q. Yumm! It's our friend's (Kat) bday, so it should be good fun. Today's share is a card I made for my co-worker's (Tuan) birthday. He turned 30 yesterday, but believe me he doesn't look a day over 21! Must be his asian genes. :)
I used Toxic (or is he sweet) for his card, cause he sort of resembles Tuan. I wiped off his wings and I added a little something something to the image. Can you see what it is? Look closely at his mouth. Yes, unfortunately he's a smoker. It's funny that my other co-workers totally recognized who I was trying to portray once I added the cigarette to the image. Too funny! Since this is a guy card, I went simple and mounted the white cs on dark brown paper, then onto a craft card which I sponged. I like the clean lines which is perfect for any guy card.
Okie dokie, gotta get cranking on a card for Kat before I leave for my busy day. Hope you are all getting crafty this weekend and if you have time, stop on over at the ATS website for the Sweet November birthday blog hop.
Mahalo for stopping by!

Justin's card

Here's the second card I wanted to share, for my other co-worker. He's a pretty cool guy and he really likes Shakespeare. I searched the internet for a quote and found this one. I'm not sure which poem it's from, but I do remember this quote was in the movie, Coach Carter. All of the other ones were either too morbid for me or I just didn't get them. This one was perfect for my card. I asked my brother to write it for me using his fancy cursive, or gangsta writing as I like to call it, on a piece of white cs. I used a spellbinder to cut it out then I used a couple cool gray Copics to shade in. For the stamped image I used the Greeting Farms Jeremy from the WS-Roll Call kit. I altered his face a little bit by adding a subtle goatee. I also added the cool hat from the TGF OA-Journey stamp set. It gives him a kind of poet look I think. I mounted both images onto a red dry-embossed piece of cs and then mounted that on to black cs which I am using for the card. I distressed the edges of the card, including the quote and the red cs. I hope he likes the card. I tried to choose something that I thought he would enjoy, the quote, and the red card, plus a fun image to go a long with it. I'm not sure if he'll let me take a picture of him, but I'll ask and post later. For now, have a wonderful Monday and Mahalo for stopping by!

Kim's card

Hello Blogging ohana! I've missed everyone so much, it's been very hard for me to get here to share lately. Been busy with work, family, projects and sleep. I don't see an end to the madness until January, but I will try to be more vigilant and try to either post or at least visit you. Right now, I have a couple cards to share. The theme for both is birthdays.
This first card was made for my co-worker Kim. Her birthday was last week Thursday and I was having a hard time choosing a stamp for her birthday. She's such a wonderful co-worker and I wanted to give her a card that would make her feel how wonderful she is. I was going through my dp when I came across this beautiful floral design. From there everything just fell into place. I chose to use a Sweet November stamp named Clover Greenfield. I also chose to use a stamp that would blend well with the paper from Inkadinkado. I altered Miss Clover slightly, coloring over her right ear and rounding out her left ear. I colored her up with light rose red and browns, then glittered her up. I have her sitting on a branch as if she is watching the two birds, which I told Kim represent her two beautiful daughters, in the corner. For the sentiment I went for one of the Greeting Farm sentiments, which I think worked out well. Mounted the whole scene on some white cs and then mounted that on brown cs which I made into the actual card. For the inside I cut out a small piece of the dp and wrote a small message for her. We all signed around the message with a white gel pen. I think she really liked the card, what do you think? I really enjoyed making this card, and getting to use the Sweet November stamp was a real treat for me. I have to make sure I use them more often. I have some ideas for them for Christmas and I think they would make lovely images for the projects I have in mind. Okay, next up I have a card for my other co-worker, Justin... Mahalo for stopping by!

Our Angel

Good morning and Happy Saturday!! I hope you have all been well and I must apologize for not visiting. I will have to take a day or afternoon to come and visit, I'm so dissapointed that I haven't been to everyone's site, but I plan to calendar it and drop by soon.
For now, I have another fun frame to share. I made this one for one of my co-workers who is going on maternity leave and is having her first child. Can you guess the sex of the baby? Yes, a girl. :)
For this one I made using minimal coloring and lots of paper! I love the fact that it is a circle frame. I used the always adorable HG-Snuggle from The Greeting Farm. Instead of coloring in her outfit and the bunny I paper-pieced them. :) So much easier than coloring for a change. I love the papers I chose, and these were scraps from other projects. It's always nice to use up scraps, yea? I kept the rest of the frame simple with some awesome background paper, a bright flower and some pink & white polka dot chipboard. If I had thought about it further, I would have made the matching card into a circle, but when u are rushed you don't really think about those things. But it's ok, she loved it just the same. See:
So sorry the picture quality is so bad. Our Dining & Events room is not the best place to take pictures. Well everyone, I've gotta get ready for a long day. Heading to ref a volleyball tournament in 30 minutes and then after that... I'm heading to Magic Mountain!! I don't know how I will survive, but with a long recovery tomorrow, maybe that'll be a good time to visit you. :) As always, MAHALO for stopping by and visiting. Have a wonderful Saturday!!!

Supplies: will be updated later :) TFYP!

A sweet ride...

It's almost time to leave for the day! Woo Hoo! It's been a very productive day for me at work. Lots of numbers and too much time sitting at my desk. I need to move! hahaha... I wish I was this little girl out on the waves just enjoying herself. To catch that perfect wave with a sunset in the background would be the ultimate in ending the day, yea? Sigh, since I'm not in Hawaii no can do. Plus I don't know how to surf so I would probably be under the water instead of on top of it. LOL!
I made this card for one of my besties who just had a birthday. She and I actually spent the day with my cousin at the happiest place on Earth last weekend. If you guessed Disneyland then you are correct! We also hit CA Adventure as well. It was so much fun. We visited the usual attractions but also did a lot of the kiddie rides which was perfect. No waiting in line for too long and I think we were feeling a bit nostalgic. And the best part was the Halloween decorations. I'll try to post some of the pictures next time.
On to the card. So was another fun but simple card. I used two TGF images and altered them to fit my vision of a little girl surfing on a fabulous set of waves in the sunset. I used surfer Ian and switched out his head with WS-Nahla. I colored in a cute top and made her necklace into a pooka shell one. My friend is always wearing her pooka shells. haha. I've used this set up before, but this time to give it a little drama I used some origami paper to mimic a sunset. I love this card and was very reluctant to part with it. O well, no worries she deserves it and I was happy to give it to her. I'll just make myself another one. :)
Okie dokie, heading out to the park for softball practice. Hope you all have a wonderful evening and afternoon. Mahalo for stopping by!!

Sympathy card

Hi, I'm back for a really short share. Hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday doing something fun and productive. I am at work so one of those applies to me. :) (haha, it's definitely not the first) I made this card for my Uncle, via marriage, who's brother recently passed away. I inked up a couple Stampin' up images from the same set in Tuxedo black and stamped them on craft paper. I used a craft colored card and added some ribbons, for a simple and easy card. Mahalo for stopping by again. Have a wonderful day!

Wedding bells

Happy Wednesday morning. I've been trying to stop by everyone's blog, and slowly but surely I will find you. Thanks so much for all of your wonderful comments. I am so blessed to know you all. :) Now for my share:
This was a card I made for my mom. One of her co-workers is getting married and she suggested to the group instead of buying a card to have me make one for all of them to sign. I was pretty happy to accomodate them. I used a SU stamp that I have used in the past, some gray and white dp and the show stopper, a clear acetate frame with this really pretty black border. I know you probably can't see it, but I used Stickles to glitter up her dress. It's hard to tell with the acetate, but hopefully you can imagine it. :) The sentiment is one I've also used before. It's a rub-on from Making Memories. It's such a nice sentiment. Perfect for a newly wedded couple.
I had a lot of fun with this one because I didn't have to do much. For the inside of the card I decided to make it into a folder and used my spellbinders to make individual inserts so that everyone could write their own special message to the happy couple. (Sorry, but I forgot to take pictures of the inserts) They asked me to include their logo in the card as well so I asked my mom to print it on a clear label. I think I incorporated it perfectly on the inside of the card. :) On the opposite flap I stamped a really simple but poignant sentiment. For the inserts I used labels eight and I stamped a simple flourish on opposite corners.
I used the opposite side of the gray paper for the inside of the card. I love the dp, it's so perfect for what I wanted to do and I love how the white border image pops on the dark gray background. I believe this card will travel between three other offices before it is mailed out to the bride-to-be. I love how this turned out and I plan to keep this one handy for a fast wedding card. Mahalo for stopping by and Happy Wednesday blogging ohana.

Buzzin' on by...

Hello blogging ohana. I've so missed you all. I hope to pop in to visit with you today. It's been such a long and tiring work week. It's just going to get busier with the holiday season approaching so will have to pace myself so I can craft, post and visit all of your lovely blogs. Today I have a frame to share, yay!
When my co-worker asked for a frame, I was jazzed. The last one I made was she asked me to make, so I was anticipating another fun one. This time the frame was going to a mutual co-worker of ours. His daughter is turning 1 so she wanted something fun to give as a gift. Since this was a last minute request I didn't have time to pop on over to Michael's. Luckily I had this huge frame lying around. When I say huge, I mean huge, it measured 11"x14"! I was fortunate that I had some white paper that would fit the frame and excess to cut off. Whew! :) The evite theme was bumble bees so I went into my treasure trove of wooden creatures and I found the perfect little bee. Now I needed the perfect stamp. I had a cute one in mind. The sweet Darby with her bumble bee friend, Bumbles, from the Sweet November stamp line. Ah, these two made the perfect pair on my project. Now that I had my images, I decided to go with lots of bright flowers with some fun brads. Of course I had to glitter up all the petals on the flowers, it would not have been any fun if I hadn't right? I love how it looks like Darby is smelling the flowers. So kewt! :)For the background I sponged yellows, light browns and oranges. Threw in a MS border which created a great dimension to the top and bottom of the frame and lastly I stamped a cute sentiment from SU on the back of some twill ribbon. The sentiment was just perfect! Used some pink acrylic letters from K*I memories, to spell out Karah, the baby's name. I thought it was kewt to add Bumbles on top as if he was looking down at her name. As you can see I went Bumbles crazy, but he was just too kewt not to put all over the frame. I colored him up to match the flowers but scattered him all over cause he seems like the kind that doesn't like to be in just one area. hahaha.
I have a couple more posts, yay, that I will work on and hopefully I will get a chance to pop in over to your blog world. For now, MAHALO for stopping by and wishing you all a wonderful Sunday.

September 2-card swap Halloween style

Hello eveyone, hope you are having a very nice Sunday. I'm updating my blog and the 1st season of Glee is playing on the tv, via DVD. Sue is getting her Madonna groove on.. VOGUE!!
This post is to share the two very awesome Halloween cards I received from Cyn @ Munchkin's when I signed up for the 2-card swap. The cards I received are from Maribeth of My Secret Little Haven & Grace. (Sorry, I don't have any info on Grace yet, I'm still waiting to find out so I can be a follower. So if any of you know Grace's blog info please leave me a comment. Thanks!)
The first card on the left is from Maribeth, please click here to go to her post. I love all the colors and the cute Sweet November stamp, this card is beautiful! Here is what the inside looks like This is a Joy fold card, isn't it fabulous? Gotta give her props on a wonderful card, not sure I will share it with anyone. hehehe..
For Grace's card you can see the awesome embossing and fun orange and black theme. She did a great job with the MS around punch. I always have trouble getting the correct dimensions on the paper to make it look as perfect as hers. Well done Grace. Now for the inside which totally blew me away.... Drummmmmmm rollllllllll.....
WOW! Right?! I was blown away by this one. It's a pop up card and amazingly done. She used some really cute CC Designs Halloween kids and put them in a cemetary setting. The detail is amazing! She embossed the backdrop with this really awesome cemetary scene. Hope you can all see it in the pictures. I just love it! Grace, girl you got skills!! Thank you ladies for playing in the swap because I would not have received these beautiful cards. MAHALO Cyn for making this happen with your sign-ups. If any of you would like to participate in the card swap just leave a comment here on the Munchkin's blog and Cyn will add you to that month's list. Mahalo for stopping by!! Hugs,

Think Pink

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you had a great Saturday and spent some time making cards or other fun projects. I was able to make one card that I would like to share.
October is here and it's Breast cancer awareness month. I made this card for that honor. I chose this fun sentiment and hoping everyone will get the message. If you didn't notice, I altered two TGF stamps, can you guess which two? If you guessed Spotlight Anya and Hope then you are correct! I gave Spotlight a bob and then put her on Hope's body. I love how her hair turned out and I think she looks great on Hope's body. Added some fun dp in pinks and whites and for a little drama I included some black borders.
I cased this joy fold card from Maribeth's blog. In fact, that gorgeous Halloween card is one of two cards that I recieved the other day for the 2 card swap at Munchkins. You all have to go check out Maribeth's blog, she has some awesome talent and her projects rock. In my next post I will share the card with you. Make sure to stop at Maribeth's blog and leave her some love.
I just love this card fold. Another one to add to the growing list of layouts. hehehe.
Well I'm off to bed because I'm falling asleep as I post this. hahaha! As always, Mahalo for stopping by. Have a fantastik Sunday!

A card for Erica

Happy Friday!! If you've taken today off to make cards for National card making day, I so envy you. I'm at work today, but will definitely work on some cards when I get home.
Today I wanted to share the other birthday card I made for my friend at work. She loves black & gray, polka dots and stripes so I made her a card using similar elements. This is also the third card where I used Kim Yu's fantastic layout. I'm really hooked on it. lol.
To add a little color I used fuschia in the elements of the flower, button and bling. The image I chose is from TGF's Miss Anya Love series. She's sassy and stylish and really cool. I was having issues with the black floss on this card. I ended up cutting it off and changed it up a bit. Not sure which one I like better. I was digging the black, except for the bow. I changed it up to a white ribbon then sparingly colored with a black Copic marker and twisted it, then glue-dotted the button on top. It turned out ok, but I still liked the black floss more. Here is Erica sporting her Kobari Beef t-shirt. She was very happy with the card, which was a relief since I was worried about the ribbon.
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and get to make cards today. Mahalo for stopping by and if you get a chance go to a Panda Express near you and try a sample of the new Kobari Beef. It's smoky, sweet & a little bit spicy. :)

Spotlight for Donna

Happy Thursday! Hope you've have been having a fantastic week. We've had some crazy weather here in So Cal. Yesterday there was lighting and thunder with some rain in the mountains and a gorgeous sunset. Reminds me of the sunsets at Sunset beach on the North Shore of Oahu. Miss those gorgeous sunsets. Other than that, my week has been pretty busy with work and softball practice. I did find time to make a couple cards though.
The first card I have to share was made for my co-worker Donna. Today is her birthday and I thought Spotlight Anya would be perfect for her card. I used Kim Yu's awesome layout for my card. I am so digging this layout and have used it for another card which I will post in a bit. I used dp from the same K&Company paper pad from my last post, so love this paper pad. It's the same sheet and it's double sided, so had to showcase both sides. I used some glittered card stock as a border and used the same Recollections border punch. I lightly sponged the border with some rocket red gold brilliance ink for some subtle pop. It adds a little something to the kraft paper. If you can't see the sentiment on the top it says "SURPRISE!" which I wrote free-hand. Here's Donna with the card. Isn't she cute?
I just noticed that my card has all the elements that the DT from Tamiko's is using for today's Thursday Teasers Buttons, Bling and Brads! Too funny!
This is such a bright and fun card, I hope it makes her smile.
I'll be back later today with another post for another friend's birthday which also happens to be today. Mahalo for stopping by. TTFN! ;)

Quietly waiting

Happy Tuesday! I made this card for the CA&F Mystery Monday case of Kim Yu's card. Isn't Kim's card fabulous? She is so creative with her projects, sigh, so much talent, she's so lucky and we are lucky that we get to drool over them, yea? hehehe...
Well I thought I would play along, trying to get back in the groove of participating in some challenges. I used one of the Dressy Anya's for this card. She is the quiet Miss sitting and waiting patiently for something wonderful to happen to her. Um, like being showcased on a card?! haha. Can you believe I've never inked her up? I thought she needed to be showcased and this setting was perfect. I used some awesome dp from K&Company and used my newest border punch from Recollections. Yes, they now have a line of cool border punches at Michael's. Believe me I know, lol..
I used some raffia for the ribbon and for the button I pulled one out of the cute flower buttons in red that I received from Jenny V.
I glittered the pretty bow on her hat & her shoes and used some green gems on the flowers and the corners of the card. I believe this also qualifies for the Lollipop Craft's Glitter, Sparkle, Gems challenge #9. I have to confess that I love how this turned out. Especially with the red border for the cool dp. Sigh, sometimes I surprise myself. Must be Kim's inspirational card. I'm planning to mail this out to one of my dearest friends for her birthday. Hope she likes it. Hope you all get to play along with either or both challenges. Have a wonderful day and as always, MAHALO for stopping by.
(10/1) I actually made this card for my good friend and fellow crafter Kathy, but didn't want her to know about it via my post. I surprised her with it today, which is her actual birthday. She was cracking up when I gave it to her, but I think very happily surprised.

I will update the supplies later.
